Time to nourish…

Last week my body was destroyed by the Noro virus. I lived for three days on the bathroom floor it was brutal. It also put a complete stop to my workouts. Jumping up and down in that state surely would of created a Jackson pollock inspired masterpiece from floor to ceiling. It did however have a good side to it. I began to explore the pros of blending whole foods to create smoothie recipes which target different parts of the body providing many benefits.

Each day this week I will publish a different recipe to potentially boost your health and may even improve your overall mood.

Tonight I focused on detoxification. As we know our bodies take in huge amounts of toxins each day and they have the potential to wreak havoc on our health. If we detox a little everyday we may reduce the toxic build up in our bodies and assist the liver and kidneys in filtering and cleaning the our blood.

I tried these two tonight and found them so refreshing.

1) 3 stalks of celery, juice from a lemon, one seedless apple and 500mls of water. BLEND.

2) handful of spinach, a beetroot cut into cubes, 1 seedless apple and juice from a lemon. 400mls water and BLEND.

Beets are known for their cleansing properties while celery and apples are loaded with antioxidants. Spinach aids the liver and the lemon adds the vitamin c.
